Japan’o Stage 1

Ross’s Log:

The date is 15th April 2010,

So the start to the trip has been wide awake preparing the netbook for the trip, which I actually forgot to copy my Personal Statement to so I could get started on my UNI application. So let’s see Ollie and I fell asleep at 3:30am, and then woke up at 4am to head to the airport.

Turns out my last name was spelt incorrectly on my ticket, that will teach me to double check the details on the itinary and the Tickets.  All is well though, the nice lady at the check in counter still let me through and they put a note in the comments system saying that I am who I am.

I spoke with the Travel Agent who said they will try reissuing the ticket to me; otherwise she says I will be really hammered by the American border security. This has been an interesting start to the 5 week trip ahead.

So, I am on the plane typing at the moment which will obviously be a different moment to you as I cannot really upload this live on the plane. The time is 11am Sydney Australia time. Japan is one hour behind Sydney. I have already had maybe lunch? I am not quite sure which meal it was meant to be, all I know is that lack of sleep and food has allowed me to endure the pumpkin and spinach ravioli, if you can call it that. It amazes me that in this day and age; they still cannot get aeroplane food right.

Alright, the plan is actually rather empty; I have the whole emergency exit to myself. There is a baby with his mother in the row next to me, and this is the calmest baby I have ever seen, and on a plane too!! Japanese baby of course so I wonder if it’s in the genes.

The airhostess sitting in front of me is very talkative; she has only been doing this for 6 months, and was looking for information on what to do in Sydney when she is there. Do you have any thoughts? I really couldn’t think about any activities other than the Beach walk. What else do we have seriously?

The entertainment is not that amazing, they have a few movies but nothing exciting, they don’t have any crazy Japanese TV Shows which is disappointing as I need to study up on the culture :P.

Well I am going to try and get some rest now, maybe turn on 2012 as I would have never watched it in the cinema or even on DVD :P.
